The period of bail and injunction on case proceedings extended for two more weeks after the reopening of the courts on April 26

Update : 11 Apr 2020, 06:10 PM

The Supreme Court has declared that all courts will remain closed till April 25, as general holidays have been extended to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Considering the situation in Bangladesh, the chief justice and judges of the Appellate Division took the decision at a meeting, according to a circular signed by Supreme Court Registrar General Md Ali Akbar on Saturday.

The circular states that one or more than one magistrate will be on duty in every chief judicial magistrate court or chief metropolitan magistrate court to attend to urgent cases.

Another circular issued by the Supreme Court extended the period of bail and injunction on case proceedings for two more weeks after the reopening of the courts on April 26.

Earlier on April 4, the Supreme Court said appeals against any order or judgment could be filed without a certified copy on the day of the reopening of the court, but the certified copy must be submitted during the hearing of the appeal.

Following the Covid-19 pandemic, the Supreme Court on March 24 declared a public holiday, later extending it in two stages corresponding to the extension of general holidays by the government.
