The Supreme Court has deferred to May 19 the hearing of a petition filed by Accord on Fire and Building Safety in Bangladesh, a platform of European apparel buyers to improve safety standards in the apparel sector.
A four-member Appellate Division bench, headed by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain on Monday also ordered both parties — the government and Accord — to negotiate their terms and conditions within this time.
The orders were given after the court heard the appeal filed by Accord challenging a High Court order.
Accord's lawyers said the Supreme Court order had also extended the platform’s tenure in Bangladesh till May 19.

Previously, a High Court bench ordered Accord to stop its activities in the country after November 30, 2018.
The court had also ordered that Accord would have to conduct their activities under the government formed transition monitoring committee (TMO) during this time.
Accord conducts inspection and remediation activities at the readymade garment factories in the country for more than 200 global clothing retailers and brands.
