The High Court has rejected a writ plea, filed by convicted war criminal Delawar Hossain Sayedee, seeking division facilities in jail.
The High Court bench of Justice Syed Muhammad Dastagir Husain and Justice Md Iqbal Kabir passed the order after concluding the hearing on the petition on Wednesday.
Earlier, on June 24, Sayedee, who has been serving a jail sentence in Kashimpur Jail 1, filed the writ petition with the High Court—saying that he had received division facilities as a prisoner on trial.
In the petition, Sayedee sought the High Court’s directive to require the jail authorities to provide him with division facilities in jail—and to send him to a specialized hospital for treatment.
International Crimes Tribunal 1, on February 28, 2013, sentenced Sayeedi to death— for killing Ibrahim Kutti and Bisa Bali in Pirojpur during the 1971 Liberation War.
Following two appeals by Sayedee and the government, the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court, on September 17, 2014, commuted Sayedee's death sentence to imprisonment until death.
