Jahangirnagar University turned vibrant with the colors of summer as Krishnachura Festival 2026 was held on Friday, bringing together students, photographers, cultural activists, and nature lovers.

The festival, held from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm on the campus, was organized by a group of young nature enthusiasts with support from Jahangirnagar University Photographic Society (JUPS) and sponsorship from Siravics.

Organizers said the event has been held regularly for the past five years to celebrate Bangladesh’s seasonal beauty and raise awareness about nature conservation. They hope flowers such as krishnachura, jarul, and sonalu will one day become cultural symbols similar to Japan’s Sakura Festival.

The celebration featured photography exhibitions, recitations, music performances, and other cultural activities. The blooming krishnachura trees across the campus created a festive atmosphere.

Organizer Rajib Rana Dash said they aim to expand the festival nationwide, while JUPS President Jahid Hossain highlighted photography’s role in promoting love and appreciation for nature.
