Rajuk Executive Magistrate Khandker Zakir Hossain led the mobile court which evicted business on residential plots at road 7, 14/A, 18 and 19 under Uttara Sector 4 in Dhaka city, said a press release.
The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) has already urged the government to stop the ongoing eviction drive against businesses at the capital’s upscale residential areas.
After the terror attack on Holly Artisan Bakery at Gulshan, Dhaka’s development authority Rajuk started the drive on July 25 and it will be continued till August 31 at Uttara, Gulshan and Dhanmondi areas.
On Sunday, business leaders called for ending the eviction drive, saying it was hurting businesses.
At a round-table discussion with several business owners’ organisations, FBCCI President Abdul Matlub Ahmad expressed deep concern.
Hotel, Guesthouse and Restaurant Owners’ Association of Bangladesh and Tour Operators’ Association of Bangladesh (TOAB) organised the programme at FBCCI’s conference room in Motijheel.
Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor and former FBCCI president Annisul Huq and a group of urban planners in another discussion on Saturday suggested that the eviction drive should not be rushed.
They also urged the authorities concerned to run the drive in a planned manner.
