A Dhaka court has directed Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) to cancel the allocation of two plots in the Purbachal New Town project in the names of Radwan Mujib Siddiq Bobby and Azmina Haque Siddiq, the nephew and niece of former prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
The matter was confirmed by ACC Prosecutor Khan Md Moinul Hasan (Lipon).
The order was issued by Dhaka Special Judge Court Judge Rubiul Alam in two separate cases.
The court also sentenced Bobby and Azmina to seven years in prison each in two separate cases filed over alleged irregularities and corruption in the plot allotment process.
Meanwhile, Sheikh Hasina was sentenced to a total of 10 years in prison — five years in each case.
Tulip Siddiq received four years in prison, two years per case.
The court also fined all convicted persons Tk1 lakh each and ordered them to serve an additional six months in prison in default of payment.
The cases were filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) over alleged abuse of power in the allocation of two 10-katha plots.
According to the prosecution, the accused manipulated the allocation process and violated existing rules and regulations of the Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk).
In total, verdicts were delivered against 36 accused in the two cases, including former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, her family members, and senior Rajuk and government officials.
In one case, the ACC filed a charge sheet on March 10, 2025, against 18 accused following an investigation into alleged corruption in plot allocation. Testimonies of 31 prosecution witnesses were recorded, with ACC Assistant Director Afnan Jannat Keya appearing as the final witness. The court concluded hearings on January 13, 2026, and set February 2 for the verdict.
In the second case, also involving 18 accused, 28 witnesses testified. The court framed charges on July 31, 2025, formally beginning the trial, and later fixed February 2 for delivering the judgment after completing hearings.
The other convicted accused include several former Rajuk officials, senior government bureaucrats and a former state minister for housing and public works
