BSF takes back 11 people left at Thakurgaon border

BSF reportedly took the group back into Indian territory after 3am on Sunday

The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has taken back 11 people, including women and children, who had been staying at the zero line along the Moshalgaon border in Thakurgaon's Haripur upazila for nearly 48 hours after an alleged push-in attempt.

The development was confirmed by Lieutenant Colonel Abdullah Al Moin Hasan, commander of the Dinajpur Battalion (42 BGB), on Monday morning.

According to the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), the BSF took the group back into Indian territory after 3am on Sunday. The group comprised three men, four women and four children.

As a result, no one from the group remains at the border's zero line, BGB officials said.

The 11 people had reportedly been stranded at the zero line since the early hours of June 6 after the BSF attempted to push them into Bangladesh through the Moshalgaon border.

The presence of a pregnant woman and several children among the group had raised humanitarian concerns among local residents and border authorities.

BGB said patrols and surveillance along the border have been strengthened to prevent any untoward incidents.

"The overall situation in the border area is currently normal and under control," the force said.

Border officials believe the BSF's decision to take the group back was influenced by sustained communication between the two border forces, concerns over the humanitarian situation, and growing attention from local residents regarding the incident.
