The bodies of 34 Bangladeshi expatriates, who had left the country in search of better livelihood opportunities abroad, were returned to Bangladesh on Saturday.
The remains arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on separate flights from Kuwait, Malaysia, and Libya.
The airport’s Expatriate Welfare Desk officials confirmed the matter.
According to the desk, of the total, 30 bodies were brought from Kuwait on a special chartered Kuwait Airways flight in the evening. In addition, two bodies were repatriated from Libya and another two from Malaysia.
The airport officials said the repatriation process had been delayed earlier due to the cancellation of several flights from Kuwait amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East. Subsequently, arrangements were made to transport the deceased on a special chartered flight.
Authorities completed the necessary formalities at the airport before handing over the bodies to their respective families.
