The US Embassy in Dhaka on Friday expressed deep sorrow over the death of Sharif Osman Hadi, spokesperson of Inqilab Mancha.
In an official statement posted on its verified platform, the embassy said: "We join the people of Bangladesh in mourning the loss of youth leader Sharif Osman Hadi and extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends and supporters."
On December 12, after Friday prayers, Hadi was shot in the head by one of two men on a motorcycle while he was riding a rickshaw on Box-Culvert Road in Bijoynagar, Dhaka.
He was initially taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in critical condition, then moved to Evercare Hospital and admitted to the ICU.
For advanced treatment, Hadi was later flown to Singapore by air ambulance on Monday.
