The interim government on Monday described the death sentences handed down to former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal for crimes against humanity as a historic verdict.
Acknowledging the profound significance of the ruling, the government urged citizens to remain calm, responsible, and restrained.
A statement emphasized that people should avoid any disorderly conduct, provocation, violence, or illegal activities in the post-verdict period.
“The verdict, long awaited—particularly by the families of those martyred during the July uprising—may naturally evoke strong emotions. However, no one should allow these emotions to compromise public order,” the statement added.
The government also warned that any attempts to create anarchy, unrest, or disruption of public order would be met with strict action.
