Islamic scholar Dr Mizanur Rahman Azhari said on Saturday that Palestine resides in each Bangladeshis’ heart.
“This great assembly of people in the March for Gaza proves that a Palestine dwells in each of our hearts,” he said at the “March for Gaza” protest rally in the capital’s Suhrawardy Udyan.
“Today’s protest is an expression of our love for Palestine and Al-Aqsa. Even though we are far from them in geographical location, Palestine is in our hearts,” he added.
During his speech, Azhari also led chants of “Free, free Palestine, Palestine will be free” as the crowd responded in unison.
The event formally began with recitation from the Holy Quran, marking the start of the solidarity program expressing support for the Palestinian people against the Israeli oppression.
As in many other countries, protests and demonstrations against Israel are taking place across all regions of Bangladesh.
The program was aimed at standing against Israeli oppression and in support of the people of Gaza who have been victims of persecutions and offensives.
