Australia has revoked the visa of Bangladeshi Islamic scholar Mizanur Rahman Azhari, who praised Adolf Hitler as a “divine punishment” against Jews, midway through his tour.
His visa was reportedly cancelled on Tuesday, and he is now awaiting deportation, reports the Daily Mail.
Azhari, known for his large online following, had been visiting several Australian cities over Easter for his “Legacy of Faith” lecture series.
He also had events planned in Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, and Canberra.
Azhari has previously faced travel restrictions in multiple countries. He was banned from entering the United Kingdom and barred from delivering public sermons in Bangladesh due to allegations of extremist hate speech.
Australian Liberal Senator Jonathan Duniam told parliament that community organisations had raised concerns about Azhari’s visit, alerting lawmakers and the relevant minister.
