Bangladesh police took swift action against the violent and unlawful incidents that occurred during pro-Gaza demonstrations in various parts of the country on Monday, according to a statement from the Chief Adviser’s Press Wing.

In a statement issued on Tuesday morning, it was stated that the attacks and acts of vandalism constitute violations of public safety and the rule of law.

The statement further mentioned that so far, at least 49 individuals involved in the incidents have been arrested.

The police acted promptly and have formally filed two cases, it said.

Investigations are ongoing, and additional cases are being prepared against those responsible for these deplorable acts, it added.

Notably, the police conducted overnight raids on Monday in an effort to bring the perpetrators to justice.

Law enforcement agencies are reviewing video footage captured during the protests to identify those involved.

The statement emphasized that operations will continue until everyone responsible for the violence and destruction is apprehended.

The government has urged anyone with information that could assist the investigation to come forward.

It also stressed that those seeking to disrupt peace and stability in society will be held accountable.
