Three alleged online fraudsters have been arrested in Khulna’s Batiaghata upazila for swindling an expatriate out of Tk88,890 by promising him an online job.
The 3rd Armed Police Battalion (APBn) arrested Sabbir Hossain, Swadhon Kumar Ghatak and Shakib Sheikh on Tuesday following a cybercrime investigation. The suspects were later handed over to Bandar police in Narayanganj, where a case was filed on October 12.
Additional DIG MM Salahuddin, commander of the 3rd APBn in Khulna, said the suspects allegedly used social media to lure people with promises of online work and defraud them of money.
Police seized five mobile phones, 15 SIM cards and Tk500 in cash from their possession.
