The deputy press secretary to the chief adviser, Abul Kalam Azad Majumder on Wednesday said that the government believes women's football should be promoted.
"Women are an integral part of society and a source of national pride. The government does not want any hindrance to women's football," he said.
He made these remarks during a briefing at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital.
The deputy press secretary mentioned that an incident had occurred surrounding a women's football match.
However, this match was not part of the youth festival organized by the government, he added.
He acknowledged that some issues had arisen regarding the event's organization, and the government had taken the matter seriously, instructing the administration to address it with utmost importance.
Additionally, he said that he had spoken with the Bangladesh Football Federation, which is in discussions at the local level to find an acceptable resolution to the situation.
He further said that the interim government encourages women's participation in sports.
He highlighted that the national women's football team is a source of pride for the country, having won the SAFF Championship, further adding that the government is taking various initiatives to further inspire the women's football team.
