Update : 26 Nov 2024, 11:20 PM

Farhad Mazhar, a renowned Bangladeshi philosopher and activist, has called for the immediate release of Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, a Hindu leader and spokesperson for the Bangladesh Sanatan Jagaran Mancha.

In a detailed Facebook post, Mazhar criticized the interim government for its handling of communal tensions and accused it of being influenced by foreign powers and suppressing religious freedom.

Mazhar emphasized the need to protect the civic and human rights of all Bangladeshis, regardless of religion or ethnicity, and urged the public to avoid labeling Hindus with derogatory terms.

He also highlighted the importance of understanding the international geopolitical reality and warned against conspiracy theories and misinformation.

He called for unity among all citizens to resist communalism and foreign interference, stressing the need for a national consensus to strengthen the democratic political stream.

Mazhar also pointed out the challenges posed by pro-Awami fascist groups within the government and administration, who he claimed are sabotaging efforts to build a new Bangladesh.

His full Facebook post is shown below:

“Immediately release Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, the spokesperson of the Bangladesh Sanatan Jagaran Mancha and the head of Pundarick Dham.

Protect the civic and human rights of all the people of Bangladesh, regardless of religion or ethnicity, including Hindus. Stop the suicidal communal politics.

Avoid labeling Hindus as agents of Delhi, BJP agents, or Hindu nationalists with hateful communal tagging.

Most importantly, we must understand that the international geopolitical reality is not in Bangladesh’s favor but against it.

It cannot be dealt with by ignorance or conspiracy theories. Avoid ignorance.

We must be cautious about those who explain politics with conspiracy theories and spread rumors to mislead the public. Clean and sharpen your antennas.

The condition created after the July 2024 revolution to restructure Bangladesh in a new way must be implemented.

This is possible if we communicate with each other and strengthen the democratic political stream through national consensus.

We need everyone's sincere effort. Let us awaken our good sense. Let us unite for the demand of Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari's release.

We hope the government will release him immediately.

1) After the July 2024 revolution, an interim advisory government was formed with an oath to preserve Sheikh Hasina’s fascist constitution.

On one side, the spirit of the popular uprising, and on the other, the so-called law and constitutional Awami trap – in the tension of both, the old fascist Awami state has actually been established.

We have received an extremely weak, ineffective, and incapable government with no ability to provide but a desire to hit.

2) In this reality, our task is to strengthen the popular political stream against violence and communalism.

We must learn to stand united as a political community, transcending national, religious, and gender divisions, against politics of hatred, enmity, division, and polarization. But the old fascist and communal forces are repeatedly obstructing our efforts.

Through rumors, false propaganda, and various absurd conspiracy theories, our enemies are continuously misleading the public.

They are turning Bangladesh into a playground for foreign powers. We are seeing that lazy minds, through conspiracy theories, fake news, and rumors, are instigating the people of Bangladesh against Sanatan religion.

The defeated fascist forces are using communal poison as their main strategy to nullify the July 2024 popular uprising and manipulate the people of Bangladesh.

3) In the face of this suicidal danger, we must think about the safety of the people of Bangladesh.

On one hand, we need to protect the weak interim advisory government, and on the other, we need to make the people aware, organized, and united against the fascist forces and state system to bring the popular uprising to full victory.

4) But there is a conspiracy by anti-people and anti-Bangladesh circles in the government and administration who are carrying out sabotage after sabotage against the people of Bangladesh and the interim government.

Their latest evidence is the abduction of Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari along with 19 other Sanatan believers, on the request of some police officers, in a white microbus.

Who are these police officers who hold more power than the interim government and even the Bangladesh military?

5) On October 31, Firoz Khan from the Mohora area of Chittagong filed a case at the Kotwali police station of Chittagong against Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari and 19 other Sanatan believers for insulting the national flag, accusing them of treason.

It should be noted that Firoz Khan is the general secretary of the BNP’s Mohora ward in Chittagong.

6) Friends, Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari is a product of the July popular uprising.

The popular revolution has brought a transformation in our consciousness. To understand this, listen to his speech at the Rangpur mega rally recently.

Pay attention to how he honored the martyrs of the July revolution and the disabled heroes who lost their limbs. Not only that, he encouraged his followers to come to the rally with the Bangladesh flag tied to their heads.

He openly praised the role of the Bangladesh military in ensuring the peaceful conduct of the Rangpur mega rally and expressed gratitude.

It is clear that the July revolution has created a qualitative shift in our consciousness, irrespective of religion. Losing that invaluable treasure would mean losing the foundation for building a new Bangladesh.

Our job is to accelerate this transformation and sincerely listen to the anger, protest, sorrow, and pain of the Sanatan believers, and immediately include everyone in the broader society.

We must understand that Sanatan believers are citizens of Bangladesh. Establishing the civic and human rights of all people in Bangladesh, regardless of religion and ethnicity, is our primary and foremost task.

To do so, we must sincerely listen to the grievances of Sanatan believers and find a solution.

7) But the obstacle in this regard has been the pro-Awami fascist group hiding in the government, along with a section of the police and administration.

These people, who are still in power, continue to carry out sabotage in the old Awami administration, while also supporting extreme communal groups to destabilize Bangladesh.

Their sole aim is to strengthen colonial-era communal hatred and animosity between the Bengali-speaking, Bangali, and Bangladeshis for the benefit of Delhi, so that we cannot build a new Bangladesh under any circumstances.

We must stand up against those enemies who are spreading communal poison both in Bangladesh and the subcontinent.

The planting of communal hatred will become the cause of Bangladesh’s ruin. We must stay alert and cautious.

With patience, tolerance, and peaceful struggle, we will definitely win the fight for civic and human rights."
