The membership of 37 senior journalists at the National Press Club has been suspended for their alleged involvement in inciting mass killings during the July Revolution and for collaborating with the ousted government.
This decision was announced in a notice signed by the President of the National Press Club, Hasan Hafiz, and the General Secretary, Ayub Bhuiyan, on Monday.
The suspension was confirmed during a management committee meeting held on October 27.
The journalists whose memberships have been suspended include: Nurul Amin Prabhash, Zayedul Ahsan Pinto, Mozammel Babu, Ashish Shaikat, Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, Sohel Haider Chowdhury, Farzana Rupa, Ashok Chowdhury, Azmal Hossain Helal, Abul Khair, Mohammad Manjurul Islam, Pranab Saha, Naeem Nijam, Khairul Alam, Abed Khan, Subhash Chand Badal, Jahirul Islam Mamun (Z.I Mamun), Jafar Wazed, Saiful Islam Kallol, Pavel Rahman, Azizul Islam Bhuiyan, Shaban Mahmood, Muhammad Shafiqur Rahman, Abul Kalam Azad, Shyamal Sarkar, Ajay Dasgupta, Alamgir Hossain, Ramaprosad Sarkar Babu, Sanjoy Saha Piyal, Faraji Azmal Hossain, Anisur Rahman, Enamul Haque Chowdhury, Naeemul Islam Khan, Mohammad Ashraf Ali, Molla Jalal, Ikhtiyar Uddin, and Abu Zafar Surya.
