The allies of facist forces are spreading propaganda regarding slogans at Jagannath University (JnU).
The slogan "All bastards are swindlers, the army will be contractors" (Shob shalara batpar, army hobe thikadar) was directed against corrupt contractors and the administration, not Adviser Nahid, said Rakib Hasan, a representative of the protesting students from Jagannath University.
In a press conference held at the Shaheed Minar premises of Jagannath University on Wednesday, Rakib clarified that the slogan was aimed at corrupt contractors and the administration appointed during the fascist regime.
He pointed out that despite six years, they had failed to acquire land for the second campus, repeatedly extending the project’s deadline but failing to complete it.
Instead, they had enriched themselves through corruption and embezzlement, which had nothing to do with Adviser Nahid or the interim government.
Rakib expressed disappointment over former autocratic regime supporters trying to manipulate the situation and create divisions, adding that they would continue protesting against autocrats and corrupt individuals for the country's benefit.
During the press conference, movement spokesperson Tausib Mahmud Sohan said that some Facebook pages were misrepresenting the issue and that it was mainly authoritarian agents trying to misinterpret it.
On Monday, the students gathered at the Secretariat to present their five demands to Adviser Nahid Islam, during which they chanted various slogans.
However, videos of a slogan hinting at Nahid circulated on social media, leading to controversy between Adviser Nahid and Jagannath University students.
Subsequently, on Tuesday night, students from across the country and central coordinators of the anti-discrimination movement started sharing the hashtag “We are Nahid” in red, acknowledging Nahid's role in the July revolution.
