The government has set a target to procure 350,000 tons of Aman paddy at Tk33 per kg for the fiscal year 2024-2025.
The government will procure a total of one million tons of food grains from the marginal farmers across the country during the upcoming Aman season.
The decision was taken at the Food Planning and Monitoring Committee (FPMC) meeting, held at the Secretariat, with Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed in the chair.
The meeting also decided to procure 550,000 tons of parboiled rice at Tk47 per kg, and 100,000 metric tons of Atap rice at Tk46 per kg.
The paddy and parboiled rice procurement drive will be conducted from November 17 to February 28, 2025 while Atap rice procurement drive will continue till March 3, 2025.
