Renowned Bangladeshi actor Abul Hayat, an icon in the country's acting industry, has unveiled his autobiography titled “Robi Path”.

The event, organized by the Bangladesh Actors' Association, was hosted by actor Aupee Karim and was attended by close family, friends, and admirers from the entertainment world.

At 81, Hayat’s reflections in “Robi Path” span decades, including stories from his early days in acting, personal life, and various pivotal moments.

He shared a heartfelt story about how his daughter Bipasha Hayat encouraged him to write his life story.

“Bipasha would often urge me to write,” he recalled. “I used to say, ‘Who would read my biography?’ But she told me, ‘You are the best writer of your life. No one else can write your biography as well as you can. I want you to write it.’ I felt she was right, and so I decided to do it.”

With the support of Tithi, the owner of Suborna Prakashani, who eagerly agreed to publish the book, Hayat completed “Robi Path” after working on it for nearly a decade.

In addition to stories and novels, the book includes various personal tales, conversations, and memories from his life journey.

During the event, Hayat took the stage with his wife, Mahfuza Khatun Shirin, and his daughters Bipasha Hayat and Natasha Hayat.

Embracing his wife, he emotionally shared a difficult chapter of their lives. “Two years ago, I was diagnosed with cancer. She supported me in every way. On our way back from the hospital, she talked to me the entire time. That night, she cried in the dark, embracing me, asking, ‘Didn’t the Creator see me?’ Her support has been my strength.”

Abul Hayat, who began acting in the 1960s, has had an illustrious career that spans over six decades. Known for his roles in TV dramas since 1969, he also starred in acclaimed films such as “Oggatonama”, “Aguner Poroshmoni”, “Joyjatra”, and “Gohine Shobdo”.

His performance in “Daruchini Dwip” won him a National Film Award, and in 2015, he received Bangladesh’s highest civilian award, the Ekushey Padak.

Reflecting on the event, fellow actor Tariq Anam commented: “When we discussed the launch of Robi Path, I felt it should have been a grander event. Unfortunately, we often fail to appreciate our legends in their lifetime. We should move away from this tendency as a nation.”

Born in 1944 in Murshidabad, India, Hayat moved to Chittagong with his family in 1947. Acting from the age of ten, he has left an indelible mark on Bangladeshi media.
