A donation of Tk100 crore has been given from the relief fund of the interim government's Chief Advisor Dr Muhammad Yunus to the “July Shaheed Smriti Foundation”, formed for the support of those killed and injured in the student uprising.
Post and Telecommunication and Information and Broadcasting Adviser Nahid Islam gave this information in a press conference at the Foreign Academy on Tuesday evening.
The distribution of financial assistance to the injured will start within a week and later financial assistance will be provided as one-time and monthly, he said.
Seven members of “July Shaheed Smriti Foundation” were formed with Dr Muhammad Yunus as the president and Mir Mahbubur Rahman Snigdho, the twin brother of Mughda who died in the movement, as the secretary.
Mahbubur Rahman Snigdho and committee member and advisor Asif Mahmud Sojib Bhuiyan were present in the press conference.
They urged the people from all walks of life and people living abroad to come forward and donate for the foundation.
Nahid said they will arrange one-time allocation and monthly allowances from this funds so that emergency financial needs and treatment costs are met.
Earlier, the Foundation was formed with Chief Adviser of interim government Prof Muhammad Yunus as its President and Shaheed Mir Mugdho's twin brother Mir Mahbubur Rahman Snigdho as secretary.
Besides, a seven-member executive council has been formed for this foundation.
