Mild heat wave sweeps over parts of Bangladesh

The day, night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged over the country

Mild heat wave is sweeping over Rangpur and Sylhet divisions and the districts of Rajshahi, Jashore, Chuadanga, Tangail and Faridpur and it may continue, a met release said on Sunday.

"Mild heat wave is sweeping over the north and north-eastern region, and it may continue...the mild wave is also sweeping over Rajshahi, Jessore, Chuadanga, Tangail and Faridpur,” it said.
 
Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind are likely to occur at a few places over Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong, and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, and Mymensingh divisions in the next 24 hours from 9am this morning, with moderately heavy falls at some places over the country.

The well-marked low over west-central Bay and adjoining Northwest Bay of Bengal moved northwestwards and intensified into a depression over the same area.

It is likely to move in a northwesterly direction and intensify further.

The axis of monsoon troughs runs through Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, center of the Depression to Assam across southern part of Bangladesh.

Monsoons are less active in Bangladesh and are stronger in North Bay.
 
Day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

The country's maximum temperature on Sunday was 37°C jointly at Rangpur, Rajarhat, and Sylhet, while the minimum temperature today was 23.6°C at Khepupara.

The country's maximum rainfall for the last 24 hours until 6am on Sunday was 102mm at Nikli.

The sun sets at 6:09pm on and rises at 05:43am Monday in the capital.
