Mild heatwave sweeping over 36 districts

The monsoon is weak over Bangladesh and moderate over the North Bay, says BMD

A mild heatwave is currently sweeping across 36 districts of the country and may persist, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department.

The heatwave is affecting Faridpur, Madaripur, Tangail, Chandpur, Feni and Patuakhali districts, as well as the divisions of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh and Khulna.

The ongoing heatwave over these regions is likely to continue.

Additionally, daytime and nighttime temperatures across the country are expected to remain nearly unchanged.

The Meteorological Department further said that the monsoon is less active over Bangladesh and remains weak to moderate over the North Bay.

According to the 24-hour weather forecast issued at 9am on Tuesday, light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds may occur in some areas of Chittagong and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places in Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna and Barisal divisions.

Elsewhere in the country, the weather is expected to remain mainly dry with partly cloudy skies.

For the 24-hour period starting 9am on Wednesday, light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds and lightning may occur at a few places in Chittagong and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna and Barisal divisions.

Day and night temperatures across the country are expected to remain nearly unchanged.

For the 24-hour period beginning at 9am on Thursday, light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds and lightning may occur at many places in Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions and at a few places in Rangpur and Rajshahi divisions.

Moderate to heavy rainfall is also likely to occur at isolated places across the country.

During this period, both daytime and nighttime temperatures may decrease slightly.
