Interim govt: Portfolios of 5 advisers reshuffled again

Chief adviser has been assigned responsibilities for six ministries and divisions

The interim government has reshuffled the responsibilities of its five advisers.

This information was confirmed on Tuesday in a notification from the Cabinet Division.

According to the latest decision, Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus has been assigned responsibilities for six ministries and divisions.

These are: Cabinet Division, Ministry of Defence, Armed Forces Division, Ministry of Food, Ministry of Public Administration, Ministry of Civil Aviation, and Tourism.

Adviser Salehuddin Ahmed has been assigned the responsibilities of the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Commerce, and the Ministry of Science and Technology.

Adviser Hasan Arif has been assigned to three ministries. They are - Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, and Ministry of Land.

Adviser Brigadier General (retd) Dr M Sakhawat Hossain has been assigned to the Ministry of Textiles and Jute, and Ministry of Shipping.

Adviser Sharmin S Murshid has been assigned to the Ministry of Social Welfare and Ministry of Women and Children Affairs.

The notification was issued by Cabinet Secretary Md Mahbub Hossain on behalf of the president.

The charges of other advisers will remain unchanged.

Following the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina amid a student movement on August 5, President Md Shahabuddin dissolved the parliament.

Subsequently, Nobel laureate economist Dr Muhammad Yunus was appointed as chief adviser, and 16 others were appointed as advisers.

Four more Advisers were added later to the interim government.

After taking office on August 8, Chief Adviser Dr Yunus initially managed 27 ministries.

With the addition of the four new advisers, the responsibilities within the interim government have now been redistributed.
