A metro train on Monday night was delayed by three minutes as a door of a coach failed to close after being stuck due to plum seed.
The incident took place at 8:58pm.
Carrying food on the metro is prohibited, yet many passengers remain unaware of this rule. As a result, disruptions frequently occur on the metro. On several occasions, water bottles have caused the doors to get stuck, leading to delays.
The metro train faced a similar incident at Dhaka University station due to a plum seed.
Witnesses reported that after passengers boarded a Uttara-bound train, one of the coach doors failed to close.
An operator later discovered that a plum seed was stuck near the door.
The seed was removed, causing the train to be delayed by three minutes. No passengers took responsibility for the incident, and the metro authorities have not officially commented on the matter.
There are specific regulations for passengers using the metro. Among these rules are prohibitions against carrying open food that could cause odours, consuming food inside the train, and spilling water from bottles. Passengers must handle water bottles responsibly and avoid littering.
Additionally, smoking is banned on the metro, as is carrying raw fish, meat, or vegetables.
Talking loudly on phones and playing music are not allowed, nor is bringing weapons or sharp objects. Pets are not permitted, and passengers are prohibited from bringing gas balloons or similar items into metro stations.
