Popular YouTuber Hero Alom said he is looking for former state minister Mohammad Ali Arafat and threatened to beat him.
Hero Alom was an independent candidate in the 2023 Dhaka-17 by-polls. He was defeated by Awami League candidate Mohammad Ali Arafat.
During the election campaign, he was attacked and claimed that the attackers were associates of Arafat.
After Sheikh Hasina’s fall, several influential ministers and leaders from her administration have been arrested.
In a recent video message, Hero Alom called for justice over the "forcible seizure" of his seat and the "brutal attack" he endured from hired thugs.
He said: "In the election, I won by a large margin. When Arafat saw that I was winning, he had his miscreants group brutally assault me and forcibly steal the election results. He even tried to kill me."
During this time, Hero Alom addressed the citizens, saying: "You all have seen the torture I endured. So, dear citizens, wherever you find Arafat, catch him, beat him up, and hand him over to law enforcement. Also, let me know when you find him; I want to beat him too."
Expressing his intention to file an attempt to murder case against Arafat, he said: "He tried to kill me. The day police arrest him, I will file a case against him. I demand justice for the seat he stole from me.”
Hero Alom also accused Arafat of embezzling crores of taka in the last year.
