Farooq-e-Azam has taken the oath of office as an adviser of the interim government led by Prof Muhammad Yunus.
President Mohammed Shahabuddin administered the oath at the Bangabhaban around 11am on Tuesday
He returned to Bangladesh from the United States on Sunday night.
Naval commando Farooq-e-Azam is a freedom fighter who was awarded Bir Pratik.
On Sunday, Dr Bidhan Ranjan Roy Poddar and Supradeep Chakma took oath.
