The Editors’ Council on Tuesday called on the president to stop chaos, ensure the safety of public and government-private property, and halt attacks on journalists.
The council, in a statement, said that more than 400 people were killed in the last three weeks while many were injured in the violent unrest.
Sheikh Hasina resigned as prime minister on Monday in the face of anti-quota protests and democratic movements by students and mass people as well as at the sacrifices of many, it added.
Mentioning that five journalists were killed and more than 100 were injured, the Editors’ Council condemned the incident and expressed condolence.
All are worried about the safety and security of people in general and the property of the government and government entities.
There were also media reports of attacks on minorities in some places. Several television stations and media establishments were vandalised, the release added.
The council said that the president should take immediate steps to stop such incidents.
