Police have been deployed

Update : 11 Jul 2024, 05:33 PM

Dhaka University students have started gathering in front of the central library on the fourth day of the Bangla Blockade program, demanding quota reform.

The students were supposed to gather in front of the library at 3:30pm on Thursday and block the Shahbagh intersection, but due to rain, the protest was delayed.

On the other hand, the university unit Chhatra League announced a procession on the campus at 2pm, but it got delayed due to the weather as well.

As of 4:45pm, they were seen taking position near the campus’s Modhur Canteen.

Meanwhile, the members of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) were seen deployed at various points in the capital to prevent the Bangla Blockade and possible clash between DU Chhatra League members and the students.

On Wednesday, at a press conference, Nahid Islam, one of the coordinators of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, announced new programs and said that according to the Bangla Blockade, all important places in the capital and across the country would be blocked from 3:30pm on Thursday. Highways and railways will also be included in this blockade.

He said that they are conducting their program in an orderly manner.

They are sensitive to the public's suffering caused by this movement, but the government must bear the responsibility for it because, despite the prolonged protests, the government has not contacted them or attempted to resolve the issue.
