The director of the Department of Environment (Dhaka Region) and his wife have died from alcohol poisoning, according to their death certificates.
Syed Nazmul Ahsan and Nahid Binte Alam fell ill after consuming alcohol at their residence in Dhaka’s Mirpur-2.
Nazmul was admitted to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital. He died on Wednesday evening, said Sub-Inspector (SI) Kanchan Nahar of Mirpur Model police station.
His wife Nahid was admitted to the intensive care unit of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), where she breathed her on Thursday morning, the SI said.
The bodies were sent to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
The death certificates of both the deceased say they died from alcohol poisoning, said SI Mizanur Rahman of Mirpur model police station.
