The MRT Rapid Pass card has brought relief to people in a congested city and become popular among Dhaka commuters, helping them avoid long queues on the metro rail.
The MRT Rapid Pass is for those who don't want to buy tickets repeatedly. If necessary, you can recharge this card and travel as many times as you like.
In addition, the validity of this card will be 10 years. A form has to be downloaded from the Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) website (dmtcl.gov.bd). After filling it out and submitting it to the metro rail ticket counter, the MRT pass card will be available.
Name, parent's name, national identity card (NID) or passport Number, mobile number, and e-mail ID are required for registration.
The MRT pass can be refunded after deducting a service charge of Tk 50, the security deposit, and if it remains unused. Many are already using the MRT pass to travel on the metro rail, and users have been urged to take care of the card and advised to keep it carefully without placing it in a wallet or purse.
If the card is damaged or lost, a fee will have to be paid for re-issuance.
For the re-issuance of a lost MRT pass, a security deposit of Tk200 and a processing fee of Tk200 must be re-deposited for a total of Tk400. After re-issuance, if the lost pass is found and usable, the security deposit will be refunded upon payment of a service charge of Tk50.
If the MRT pass is damaged, an application for reissue must be made through the prescribed form. The unused status will be automatically transferred to the new MRT pass. However, in this case, a processing fee of Tk200 has to be paid for the re-issue of the damaged MRT pass.
When the MRT pass's first recharge amount is used up, you can recharge your desired amount of money through TVM from any station. If the MRT pass is not touched properly at the entry or exit gate of the metro rail, there will be problems during subsequent entry or exit. In this case, the pass should be activated by contacting the EFO.
If there is any irregularity in using the MRT pass, the pass will be blocked. In this case, the application should be submitted to the EFO by filling the prescribed form to execute the pass.
How the MRT pass will save time for passengers
Passengers will get a 10% discount on the fare if they travel by metro rail using the MRT pass. Besides, there will be no hassle of standing in line to collect tickets every time.
Two trains leaving from Uttara North metro rail station, at 7:10am and 7:20am, for Motijheel are only available to MRT or Rapid Pass holders.
The last four metro trains, leaving Motijheel, at 8:10, 20, 30, and 40pm, are also available only for the MRT or Rapid Pass holders. But if someone buys their ticket before 7:45pm, they can also travel by train.
