Bangladesh Open University (BOU) and Fareast International University (FIU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to implement cooperative measures in the field of education, research, and training between the two universities in Gazipur on Tuesday.
The signing event was chaired by Bangladesh Open University (BOU) Vice-Chancellor Professor Syed Humayun Akhter.
Registrar Dr Md Shafiqul Alam on behalf of BOU and Registrar Md Moshiur Rahman on behalf of Far East International University signed the MoU.
At the event, Sheikh Kabir Hossain, chairman of the Board of Trustees of Far East International University and President of the Association of Private Universities of Bangladesh, expressed optimism about forging new avenues in education and research for both universities and the nation's advancement.
Kabir emphasized the pivotal role of BOU's educational programs in contributing to the economic development and prosperity of the country.
BOU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Syed Humayun Akhtar highlighted that the agreement would facilitate significant contributions to academic collaboration between the two institutions.
He underscored the importance of smart and sustainable education for the country's economic progress.
Emphasizing the role of healthy societies in national advancement, Professor Humayun pointed out the joint initiative to produce skilled manpower at the grassroots level, particularly focusing on technical education.
The vice-chancellor also mentioned the creation of new knowledge through research initiatives and the introduction of courses on parenting to foster smart and healthy societies, subsequently leading to the generation of new employment opportunities.
As part of the collaboration, all BOU program curricula will be web-based and smart, allowing students to engage in the learning process from any location.
