BOU VC attends Commonwealth of Learning in Mauritius

Bangladesh Open University (BOU) Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Syed Humayun Akhter participated in the programs of Commonwealth of Learning (COL) in Mauritius on October 2-5, 2023.

Among the events, he participated in the Executive Governing Board (EGB) of the Commonwealth Executive Master of Business Administration (CEMBA) and the Commonwealth Executive Master of Public Administration (CEMPA), Academic Board (AB) and a high-level roundtable meeting, says a press release issued on Friday.

The meeting was chaired by Prof Asha Kanwar, CEO and President of Commonwealth of Learning (COL) and attended by the university vice-chancellors of different countries under Open University of Mauritius.

During the discussions, BOU VC stressed the significance of integrating artificial intelligence technologies such as ChatGPT and BARD into higher education. He offered valuable recommendations to enhance the quality of educational programs, emphasizing the importance of innovative approaches.

Prof Humayun also served as a panellist in the high-level roundtable discussion on climate change, where he shared insights on climate change issues globally, focusing on the specific challenges faced by Bangladesh. 

Additionally, he shared innovative leadership practices based on his personal experiences in higher education during leadership sessions.

In the meeting, representatives from universities worldwide exchanged ideas on incorporating new technologies and innovative management practices in distance education, aiming to enhance the quality and accessibility of education.
