As part of the ongoing celebrations for World Children's Day and Children's Rights Week 2023, the Bangladesh Shishu Academy is hosting a series of events.

On Saturday, children took a joyful break from their routine, engaging in plays, poetry recitations, and various games.

Students from Scholastica School presented a play titled "Tasher Desh".

Additionally, characters from Sisimpur, including Tuktuki, Shiku, Halum, and Ikri Mikri, entertained the young attendees, receiving enthusiastic responses.

Various attractions, including a "Brac Khelar Jogot" corner set up by Brac, showcased activities like painting, drawing, and crafting for the children. Other recreational games present were football, ring toss over blocks, swings, and more.

Saturday’s program began with a poetry recitation, seeing participation from teenagers like Ujjoyini.

She said: "Today I participated in the poetry cover. More activities are taking place in the auditorium, and we are expecting Sisimpur too."

Visitors, both young and old, expressed their appreciation.

Little Zoha, who came to the venue after school, said: “I came with my mother to enjoy the children's week.”

Arisha, from playgroup, was seen enjoying the afternoon with her peers. "I am having a great time; I have played a lot," she said.

Parents also expressed satisfaction. A mother, Mita, said: “My son, a second-grader, is playing and enjoying the activities. It is a commendable initiative for children."

Bangladesh Shishu Academy Director General Anjir Liton and Chairman Lucky Enam attended the event.

Bangladesh celebrated World Children's Day on the first Monday of October, as is customary, and has been observing the Children Rights Week 2023.

The theme of this year's Children’s Day is “Let's invest for children, build the future world”.

The Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, in collaboration with various government ministries, local government institutions, international and domestic organizations, planned the celebrations.

Notable collaborators include Unicef, Bangladesh Shishu Adhikar Forum (BSAF), National Girl Child Advocacy Forum (NGCAF), Synergos Bangladesh, SOS Children's Village Bangladesh, Save the Children Bangladesh, and Aparajeyo-Bangladesh, among others.

The week-long celebration, which began on October 2, is set to wrap up on Sunday.
