A Bangladeshi man was seriously injured in firing by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) near Kuchlibari border of Patgram upazila in Lalmonirhat on Wednesday morning.
The injured is Alamgir Hossain, 35, son of Jasimuddin of Kashidanga village in Patgram upazila.
Patgram police station Officer-in-charge (OC) Abdul Motalib Sarkar confirmed the information.
Police, quoting local residents, said that on Wednesday morning, the patrol team of Bajejama Camp of 40 BSF Battalion targeted Bangladeshi cattle smugglers crossing Dayartari (Indian tribal neighbourhood) of Kuchlibari union, about 150 yards from main pillar 805/10 of BGB's Kalsirmukh BOP camp on Kuchlibari border of Patgram upazila.
Alamgir Hossain was shot in the leg at the time leaving him seriously injured.
Hamidul Haque, chairman of Kuchlibari union parishad, said that the person was injured by BSF firing while bringing cows from India.
Meanwhile, Patgram police station OC Abdul Motaleb Sarkar said that they have received information that Alamgir Hossain, who was shot, is secretly receiving treatment at a private clinic in Rangpur, but no trace of him has been found yet.
