Awami League leader Afsarul Amin laid to eternal rest

Afsarul died on Friday in Dhaka while undergoing treatment

Former shipping minister, primary and mass education minister and vice-president of Chittagong City Awami League (AL) Dr Afsarul Amin, MP, was buried on Saturday at his family graveyard in Chittagong.

He was buried in Chittagong's north Kattoli area after 3rd Namaz-e-Janaza held at PH Amin Academy school at 8.40pm with state honour.

Thousands of people irrespective of their party affiliations, leaders of different professions and socio-cultural bodies attended his 2nd Namaz-e-Janaza held at city's Jamiatul Falah maidan at 5.30pm.

Didurul Alam, MP, and Nazrul Islam, MP, City Awami League Vice Presidents Adv Ibrahim Hossain Chowdhury Babul, Alhaj Khorshed Alam Sujan, Chattogram Zila Parishad Chairman ATM Payrul Islam, Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Mahbubul Alam, local elites, Chittagong Metropolitan and district police, among others, paid tributes to veteran parliamentarian by placing wreaths at his coffin and joined the Janaza.

Dr Afsarul Amin was the chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Education. He died on Friday in Dhaka while undergoing treatment.
