"We had started looking for a bride for him for next year’s wedding. Just yesterday, he called me and asked, 'When will you treat me to pitha (cake)? I want to eat meat pitha, but I couldn't even treat my brother.' He told me, 'I am going on an operation, pray for me. I will call you once it's over; don't worry.' And then my brother never called again.”
Nirjhor's mother, Najma said: “My son called me at night and said, 'Mom, I am going on an operation; pray for me, and I will call you afterward.' But he never called again. I demand justice for my son’s murder.”
