The National Technical Advisory Committee (NTAC) on Covid-19 expressed that there was no need for mandatory Covid-19 test and presentation of vaccine certificate for passengers coming from abroad.
This opinion was expressed in the 63rd meeting led by Prof Dr Mohammad Shahidullah, president of the committee, on Saturday.
The meeting advised pilgrims to adhere to the conditions of entry into Saudi Arabia. It is also advised to avoid contact with camels to prevent Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS).
It was also informed in the meeting that measures should be taken according to the conditions of the country one is traveling to.
In addition, NTAC on Covid-19 believed that although the number of Covid infections is high in many countries of the world, it has been under control in Bangladesh for some time. For this reason, the committee has also given its opinion on relaxing social distancing, wearing masks and other measures on preventing Covid.
However, the committee believed that masks should be used as a precaution in high-risk areas such as hospitals/medical centres and by high-risk individuals with compromised immune systems. The committee felt that it will be helpful in preventing other health problems besides Covid-19.
