Four people, including police inspector Mamun Imran Khan's sister, have testified in the court against the accused Rabiul Islam alias Arav Khan in the murder case of the police inspector Mamun.
Mamun's sister Roshan Akhtar, sister-in-law Mosharraf Hossain Khan, caretaker of the house Mirazul Islam and security guard Manik testified in Dhaka's First Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Faisal Atiq Bin Quader's court on Sunday.
The court fixed the next day of testimony on May 2. With this, the testimony of five of the 38 witnesses in the case has ended.
The other accused in this case are Suraiya Akhtar Kaya, Rahmat Ullah, Swapan Sarkar, Mizan Sheikh, Atiq Hasan, Sarwar Hasan and Didar Pathan. Arav and Kaya are absconding among them.
Earlier on July 28, 2022, the court recorded the statement of Jahangir Alam, the plaintiff in this case.
Arav Khan, a gold trader, came to the limelight following media reports that cricketer Shakib Al Hasan was visiting Dubai to attend the inauguration of his jewellery shop in Dubai.
Consequently, the police launched an investigation into the matter. According to police sources, Arav Khan started a gold business in Dubai with financial help from a former senior police officer.
Police inspector Mamun was killed in Banani on July 7, 2018. Three days after this incident, his brother became filed a murder case. After the investigation, on March 31, 2019, the police filed a charge sheet in court against eight people including Rahmat Ullah and Rabiul Islam.
On November 25, 2021, the court ordered the trial to begin by forming a complaint in this case.
