Hero Alom: Shakib and I helped police track Arav Khan

‘Shakib Al Hasan and I should be rewarded’

Popular YouTuber Ashraful Islam alias Hero Alom claimed that he and cricketer Shakib Al Hasan helped the police to track the fugitive accused in a murder case, Rabiul Islam Apon alias Arav Khan.

“It was the failure of the police to not find or arrest an accused in a murder case for so long. We helped the police to trace him. If we did not post on Facebook and did not go to Dubai, no one could have figured out Arav Khan's real identity,” he said.

“Shakib Al Hasan and I should be rewarded,” Hero Alom added. while talking to Bangla daily, Prothom Alo on Saturday.

Regarding the law enforcers interrogating Shakib Al Hasan, and him to find out whether they are involved with Arav Khan's business, he said: “I respect the law. Police can interrogate any person suspected or involved in a crime for the purpose of investigation.”

“However, at first, police must tell us how a popular cricketer like Shakib Al Hasan, and I have any connection with the murder,” Hero Alom noted.

Hero Alom further said: “I met him (Arav Khan) on Facebook. He invited me to Dubai as a Bangladeshi entrepreneur. We stars went there to support an expatriate entrepreneur. We would have still gone to Dubai if any other Bangladeshi businessman invited us.”

Earlier on Saturday, Bangladesh Police sent a letter to Interpol to bring back Rabiul Islam Apon alias Arav Khan, who is a fugitive accused in a murder case of a police inspector, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has said.

“All-out efforts are underway to bring back Arav Khan to Bangladesh. Interpol's cooperation has already been sought to arrest Arav Khan,” he told journalists after attending a program in Dhaka's Tejgaon area.

Arav Khan, whose real name is Rabiul Islam alias Apon alias Shohag alias Hridoy, is a fugitive accused in a number of cases, including one filed over the murder of Special Branch Inspector Md Mamun Emran Khan in 2018.

After the murder, Rabiul allegedly fled to India and secured an Indian passport under the name of Arav Khan, and went to Dubai.

Since February, Arav Khan also posted videos of several cricket stars from England, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Afghanistan and UAE, who were supposedly invited to the event.
