The inaugural and award ceremony of the three-day Gemcon Victory Day Golf Tournament-2022 was held on Friday.
The event was held at Kurmitola Golf Club, Dhaka Cantonment, said a press release issued by Inter-Services Public Relations.
Mohammad Saiful Alam, lieutenant general in the Bangladesh Army and quartermaster general, attended the ceremony as the chief guest and distributed the prize among the winners.
A total of 647 golfers including local and foreign players participated in this three-day tournament, reads the press release.
CourtesyCol Mohamed Khairuzzaman was named the champion, Zobair M Shoyeb was the runners-up and Mrs Fatema Rahman was named the ladies' winner in the tournament.
In the closing ceremony, senior military officers, local and foreign dignitaries, and sportsmen were present.
Everyone expressed hope that organizing such a competition would play an important role in the development of Bangladesh's golf scene.
