The body of an Indian citizen has been recovered from the river Khoai in Habiganj‘s Shaistaganj.
The deceased was identfied as Dwijraj Ghosh, 40, as per the civil certificate and driving license found in his pocket.
The body was recovered under the Shaestaganj Municipal Railway Bridge by the Shaestaganj Thana Pool on Sunday.
Police suspect that someone floated his body in the river after killing him.
The body was sent to Habiganj Sadar Modern Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Police seized Indian citizenship certificate, driving license and Indian rupees from the spot.
Earlier, locals informed the police after seeing the body floating near the pillar of the railway bridge on the river Khowai.
Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Mahfuza Akhter Shimul visited the spot.
Inspector (Investigation) of Shaistaganj Police Station Morshed Alam said: "We recovered the body from the river Khowai after getting the information. Indian citizenship certificate and driving license were found in the pocket of the body.”
“The matter has been brought to the notice of higher authorities. After getting the decision of the higher authorities, the hand over process will be started through BGB,” he added.
