A vigilance team of the Customs Intelligence Department in association with National Security Intelligence (NSI) has seized 200 cartons of foreign contraband cigarettes from a home-bound passenger at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chittagong.
On Saturday night, the Intelligence team detained a passenger at the airport who came from Sharjah, UAE.
The passenger brought these cigarettes in his luggage but based on secret information, a team of the Airport Customs Intelligence detected the contraband item in his luggage while he was going out through the departure lounge.
The seized cigarettes have been handed over to Airport Customs for necessary actions, a customs official said.
