Seeds For The Future, a flagship CSR program by global ICT infrastructure and solutions provider Huawei, has announced 30 top students for the third round of this global competition.
Based on the participants’ CGPA, academic knowledge, creativity and proficiency in English, the jury board consisting of Huawei staff, project manager and university teachers shortlisted these students out of 200 participants in the second round, said a press release on Friday.
Initially, more than 1,100 students had enrolled in this program and through a diversified screening process, these 30 students were selected at the end of the second round.
The students are set to move on to the next phase while Seeds For The Future emphasizes their skills, examination, project, and presentation skills. The selected students are also set to be trained on different topics through a “Meet the Mentor” program.
Based on their performances, nine students will be promoted to the regional round to be held in Thailand.
The winners of the regional round will go to Singapore for “Tech4Good Accelerator Camp”, reads the press release.
Huawei Technologies (Bangladesh) Head of Public Affairs and Communications Yuying Karl said: “Huawei began the Seeds For The Future program in Bangladesh nine years ago, and every time we have received tremendous love and response. The experience with this year’s students has been wonderful.
“Bangladesh has a great dream of transformation in the ICT sector and youth will play an important role there. And I am very optimistic seeing the capabilities of these young talents. This program is very much aligned with the country’s ongoing digital transformation and yields a positive outcome. We hope that the students will get to learn a lot from the next phases of Seeds For The Future.”
The 30 students are — Taki Yashir, Elin Ranjan Das and Golam Mahmud Samdani from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, Shahad Saroar, Shadmin Sultana, M Ashikuzzaman Kowshik, and Nafisa Amin Hridi from Dhaka University, Sunanda Das and Md Sazedur Rahman from Khulna University of Engineering and Technology, Manaura Naznine, Farhana Amin, Madiha Binte Zakir, Mehreen Tabassum and Md Masrur Saqib from Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology, Wasifa Rahman Rashmi, Anika Rahnuma, Md Sumit Hasan, Fairuz Shaiara, and Md Sajid Altaf from Islamic University of Technology, Mafruza Mharin Neha, Saad Mahbub Chowdhury and Marzia Tabassum Prithy from East West University, Abdullah Saleh and Abu M Fuad from Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology, Sumaiya Abul Kalam and Md Iftekher Ebne Jalal from Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology, and Md Sayeem Sadat Hossain, Lazib Sharar Shaiok, Mohsina Taz and Ankita Kundu from Brac University.
Huawei has been contributing in various ways to developing a comprehensive ICT ecosystem in Bangladesh. The global ICT infrastructure and solutions provider is helping the country reap the benefits of digital transformation, reads the press release.
Seeds For The Future is one such initiative by Huawei, which was launched globally in 2008 in Thailand. So far this program has been implemented in 137 countries worldwide, and around 12,000 students and more than 500 universities around the world have benefitted from this initiative.
Dedicated to top STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) and non-STEM students, SFTF offers huge learning opportunities to the participants.
Professors from the respected universities of the candidates joined the jury board for the second round.
