Section 144 imposed for 3 days in Mymensingh’s Tarakanda

Ten people were injured in the clash between the supporters of two candidates in the upazila on Thursday night

The local administration has imposed curfew for the next three days to bring the law and order situation under control centring Tarakanda Upazila Parishad elections in Mymensingh. 

Section 144 will be in force for three days from Friday. 

Tarakanda Upazila Nirbahi Officer Miraj-e Rahmat issued the restriction on Friday. 

Tarakhanda police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abul Khair said that ten people were injured in the clash between the supporters of Awami League nominated candidate Advocate Fazlul Haque and the supporters of rebel candidate Nuruzzaman Bakul on Thursday night.

Fearing the deterioration of the law and order situation in this incident, the upazila administration has issued Section 144 for three days. However, this section 144 will remain in force in Tarakanda Upazila Sadar Bazar area.

He also said that due to the promulgation of section 144, no procession, meetings, gatherings can be held in the Bazar area of the upazila.
