Covid-19 on the rise again, warns health minister

Covid-19 has not yet been eliminated, it can become abnormal at any time even if it is seemingly stable now, says the minister

Health Minister Zahid Maleque has asked people to maintain health safety rules in the country as Covid-19 infection rate soared recently.

The minister was speaking at a press briefing at the secretariat on Monday.

The health minister said: “The Covid-19 infection rate has increased a bit in the country recently. On Sunday, there were 109 identified patients. 

“Covid-19 is yet to be fully eliminated from the country. The situation can turn worse anytime. Many dignitaries, including ministers, have already been infected with the virus.”

Zahid Maleque asked everyone to follow the hygiene rules and wear mask while going outside.

The health minister also urged the unvaccinated people to immediately get their vaccine jabs.

He said Bangladesh was the fifth country in the world and the first Asian country to be able to bring Covid-19 under control. "All activities in the country were resumed because we could bring the spread of the virus under control."
