Narayanganj gas cylinder blast: Two victims succumb to injuries

Four others are undergoing treatments at a Dhaka hospital

Two of the six victims of Sunday’s gas cylinder explosion in Narayanganj’s Fatullah have succumbed to their injuries.

“Md Alam, 40 died at 12:30am, and Joj Mia, 50, passed away at 8am on Monday, while undergoing treatment at the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery,” said Inspector Md Bacchu Mia of the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) police outpost. 

“Both of them had suffered at least 80% burns in their bodies,” he added.

Currently, four other people are being treated at the hospital. They are Asma, 40, Hasina, 38, Sathi, 20, and Hafsa, 6.  

On Sunday, at least ten people suffered burn injuries as a gas cylinder of a vehicle exploded from a cigarette fire.

The cylinder exploded in the afternoon as some workers were repairing the vehicle behind a tin-shed house in Beparipara area of Aliganj. Among the injured, six were admitted to Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.
