This will open a new horizon for Brazilian researchers in the field of research on Bangladesh’s socio-economic development

The University of Brasilia (UnB) authorities have agreed to establish “Bangabandhu Chair” after the name of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in its South Asia Department, marking the Mujib Year.

The historical book “Unfinished Memoirs” written by Bangabandhu will be translated into Brazilian Portuguese by a university professor, said a press release issued on Tuesday.

The decisions were taken at a recent meeting between Bangladesh Ambassador to Brazil Mohammad Zulfiqar Rahman and UnB Rector (Vice-Chancellor) Dr Marcia Abraou Maura.

The establishment of Bangabandhu Chair in this university will also open a new horizon for Brazilian researchers in the field of research on socio-economic development of Bangladesh.

The research is expected to help Brazilian policymakers understand the geo-strategic and geopolitical importance of Bangladesh, said the release.

The translation of Unfinished Memoirs will also let the people of Brazil know about Bangabandhu’s life.

It will build a bridge of friendship between the people of the two countries, which will play an important role in developing relations between Bangladesh, one of the emerging economies, and Brazil, the largest economy in Latin America and the eighth largest in the world, the release added.
