The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has said a mild heat wave is sweeping over different regions of the country and predicted it is likely to continue at some places.
“A mild heat wave is sweeping over the regions of Mymensingh, Rangamati, Chandpur and Srimangal and it may abate,” a BMD bulletin informed on Sunday.
The axis of monsoon trough runs through West Bengal to Assam across the central part of Bangladesh. Monsoon is less active over Bangladesh and a low pressure area is likely to form over central Bay of Bengal during next two days, it added in a forecast
The Met Office said light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at few places over Khulna, Barisal and Chittagong divisions and at one or two places over Dhaka and Sylhet divisions.
Weather may remain dry with partly cloudy skies elsewhere over the country.
Day temperature may fall by 1°C to 2°C in the country’s southern part and it may remain nearly unchanged elsewhere over the country.
Besides, night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country, the Met Office said.
The country’s maximum temperature on Saturday was recorded 36°C at Mymensingh and Chandpur. Whereas, the lowest one on Sunday was recorded 23.75°C at Tetulia.
The sun will set at 5:29pm on Sunday and will rise at 5:58am on Monday in Dhaka.
