Awami League has selected Habib Hasan for Dhaka 18 and Tanvir Shakil Joy for Sirajganj 1 constituencies in the upcoming by-polls.
AL General Secretary and Roads, Transports and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader disclosed the information at a briefing from his official residence on Wednesday morning.
“Awami League's Nomination Board has chosen Mohammad Habib Hasan and Tanvir Shakil Joy for the upcoming by-polls of Dhaka 18 and Sirajganj 1 constituency respectively,” said Quader.
AL general secretary also urged party members and supporters to work unitedly for ensuring the party candidate’s victory.
Dhaka 18 seat got vacant after the demise of former minister and Awami League presidium member Sahara Khatun.
Mohammad Habib Hasan is a close follower of Sahara Khatun and was the joint secretary of Dhaka North City Awami League.
Sirajganj 1 seat got vacant after the demise of former minister and Awami League presidium member Mohammad Nasim.
Former member of parliament Tanvir Shakil Joy is the son of Mohammad Nasim.
